@BODY NO BRK = Book
@BODY NO BRK = Excerpted from the Easy Ventura Book
@BODY NO BRK = Written and Produced by Rick Altman
@BODY NO BRK = The Easy Ventura Book uses two primary type families--Times
Roman, and Helvetica. It is set on a standard 7 x 9 size, double-sided
page. Most of the copy is set in from the left by nine picas, so every
page has extra white space on the left.
@BODY NO BRK = All right-side pages have the "chapter tab" on the
right edge of the page. To produce this, text is placed in a black
frame and rotated 270 degrees (the text is not actually set white;
Ventura automatically turns white any text placed in a black frame.)
Finally, the frame is turned into a repeating frame for right pages,
but not left.
@BODY NO BRK = This book makes frequent use of side-by-side paragraphs.
All headlines set in the left white space utilize the popular Paragraph
Tool trick that allows two paragraphs to begin at the same horizontal
position. To do this, the headline is set with its Line Break set
to Before, while the following text is set with its Line Break set
to After. The same technique is used for the initial cap at the beginning
of the chapter.
@BODY NO BRK = All Head1 tags are intended to start at the top of
the page, and that is automated via the Breaks dialog box.
@BODY NO BRK = The bullets on page 2 are standard round bullets, but
set smaller than the following text; you may want to adjust that to
suit your taste and the particular characteristics of your font and
printer.
@BODY NO BRK = Page 3 has two comments in the left margin. They are
placed in frames, so they can be manipulated apart from the main body
of text. They are actually two paragraphs, once again set side-by-side
with the Breaks dialog box. The check mark is a dingbat character
set white, and the surrounding black box is produced with Ruling Box
Around. Its line break occurs before, while the following text is
pushed in from the left and has its line break after.
@BODY NO BRK = The numbered steps are courtesy of the Auto-Numbering
dialog box. They are linked to paragraphs tagged Keystrokes, and programmed
to start over after any Head1 or Head2 paragraph.
@BODY NO BRK = The screen shot on page 4 was captured from a standard
PC screen and then placed in a frame. Note that the frame background
is set to a customized color--15% Gray. As this is a black and white
document, all colors were turned into shades of gray via the Define
Colors dialog box.
@BODY NO BRK = The label automatically counts each figure throughout
the chapter, and the caption is entered below it and aligned along
the bottom of the caption frame.
@BODY NO BRK = This page was added using the Insert/Remove Page command,
and the text file was loaded into it. To delete this page, highlight
the page in Frame Mode, go to the Edit Menu, Remove Text File, and
delete this file from the Chapter. Then go to Insert/Remove Page command,
and remove the current page.
